Common misconception: Maine’s general PFAS reporting requirement was repealed in 2024 (LD 1537). Maine today is a phased sales-banstate; reporting returns only for “currently unavoidable use” products around 2032.

Maine's 2026 ban wave covers cookware, cosmetics, juvenile products, menstrual products, ski wax, furniture, and more. Maine has NO active general reporting duty.

From 2032, Maine bans intentionally added PFAS in all products absent a currently-unavoidable-use designation.
