Hawaii banned intentionally added PFAS in food packaging at the end of 2024.
Hawaii PFAS product requirements
Hawaii's effective dates land on December 31, not January 1.
Both Hawaii rules take effect at year end: food packaging was prohibited as of December 31, 2024, and cosmetics and personal-care products follow on December 31, 2026. That is a genuine trap for compliance calendars built on the January 1 convention every other state uses, because it costs you a day rather than gaining you a year. Hawaii has no reporting duty and no labeling duty — only these two prohibitions.
Hawaii bans intentionally added PFAS in cosmetics and personal-care products from December 31, 2026.
